OUR STORY
Led by Tim O'Connor, Founder of Heartbeat LLC
Heartbeat LLC, a certified American Heart Association Training Center, was founded by Tim O’Connor more than 20 years ago with a straightforward goal: make emergency response training practical, clear, and accessible for organizations across Michigan. Since that time, tens of thousands of individuals have been trained by Heartbeat in American Heart Association CPR and First Aid.
Heartbeat brings real-world experience to every class and has a track record of serving businesses, churches, fire departments and the private sector for all their emergency medical training needs, helping them gain the confidence and skills to respond when it matters most.
“My mission is simple: give people the training, practice, and confidence to save lives.”

Meet Our Instructors
Tim O'Connor
Founder & Lead Instructor
Before founding Heartbeat, Tim O’Connor proudly served as a firefighter and EMT with the Kentwood Fire Department for 25 years. Throughout his career, he responded to countless emergency calls and witnessed firsthand how critical the first few minutes of an emergency can be.
Heartbeat was born from a simple but powerful realization: too often, bystanders wanted to help but lacked the confidence or training to act before EMS arrived. Tim started Heartbeat with the mission of equipping everyday people with the knowledge and confidence to step in when every second counts.
Known for his humor, approachable teaching style, and ability to put students at ease, Tim creates classes that are engaging, hands-on, and confidence-building. His goal isn’t just to teach CPR—it’s to ensure every participant leaves believing they can make a difference in a real emergency.
Today, Tim has trained thousands of individuals across Michigan, helping businesses, schools, churches, healthcare providers, and community organizations create safer workplaces and stronger communities. His reliability, passion for teaching, and commitment to excellence have made Heartbeat a trusted training partner for organizations throughout the state.
Carrie Biolchini
Co-Owner & Lead Instructor
Carrie Biolchini is the Co-Owner of Heartbeat and has been a lead instructor for over 12 years. Growing up in a family dedicated to emergency response and education, she spent much of her childhood alongside her father, attending classes and witnessing the impact that quality CPR training can have on individuals, families, and communities. Those experiences inspired her passion for teaching and helping others feel prepared to act when every second counts.
To further develop her knowledge, Carrie completed training through Great Lakes EMS, where she rode alongside AMR crews to gain firsthand experience in emergency medical response. Today, she has trained thousands of individuals across Michigan and is known for building genuine relationships with her clients, creating engaging, hands-on classes, and ensuring every participant leaves with the confidence to respond in an emergency. She is proud to continue Heartbeat’s mission of providing practical, high-quality training that helps make workplaces and communities safer.
